Mick Creedon

Mick Creedon is the Director of Strategic Partnerships at SJ Group International, where he leads the development of high-trust and outcome-focused collaborations across the group’s global client base.
With over 37 years in UK policing, including 10 years as Chief Constable of Derbyshire Constabulary, Mick brings exceptional expertise in serious and organised crime, covert operations, crisis management, kidnap and extortion.
A nationally recognised leader in operational policing and strategy, Mick has pioneered multi-agency approaches to some of the UK’s most complex challenges. He led the creation of the Regional Organised Crime Units and Regional Asset Recovery Teams, forging collaborative frameworks between police forces, government departments, and specialist agencies. His leadership style is grounded in building strong, effective partnerships, whether coordinating responses to live threats,
advising senior stakeholders or shaping national security policy.
As the national lead for kidnap and extortion, and an experienced crisis negotiator, Mick has overseen some of the country’s most sensitive investigations. He continues to be trusted at the highest levels of government, including serving as the Home Secretary’s Independent Reviewer of Sex Offender Management and the Home Office’s Independent Monitor for the disclosure and barring scheme.
Mick has held academic appointments at several UK universities and served as a Senior Visiting Fellow at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), contributing to national dialogue on policing, justice reform, and public safety.
At SJ Group International, Mick supports clients by fostering strategic partnerships across agencies and organisations involved in crisis responseand complex investigations. Drawing on decades of frontline experience and board-level insight, he helps organisations navigate high-risk scenarios with clarity, discretion, and integrity.
