Bill Jephson QPM
Director of Strategic Operations & Crisis Response
SJ Group International
Bill Jephson QPM is a highly respected former Deputy Chief Constable with over three decades of operational and strategic leadership in UK policing. He is widely recognised as the UK’s most experienced 'Gold Commander' in high-stakes Blackmail and Product Contamination cases—bringing unparalleled crisis management expertise to both public and private sector challenges.
Over the course of his distinguished career, Bill led some of the most complex investigations in UK law enforcement history. He spearheaded the national response to a landmark blackmail case involving the contamination of baby food with blade fragments—a case described as one of the most challenging and high-risk the UK has ever faced. His calm, decisive leadership under pressure ensured a coordinated, multi- agency response that safeguarded public health and restored public trust.
Bill’s operational background includes extensive experience in Homicide, Kidnap, and Extortion investigations across London and Hertfordshire, where he served as a Senior Investigating Officer. His work includes securing convictions in major cold cases, such as the notably high-profile
murder of Lt Colonel Riley Workman. As a Chief Officer for more than 10 years, Bill held national accreditations as a 'Gold Commander' in firearms and public order, regularly leading cross-sector responses to major incidents. His strategic capability, combined with his hands-on crisis leadership, has made him a trusted advisor on risk, resilience, and business continuity planning.
In 2022, Bill was awarded the Queen’s Police Medal (QPM) in recognition of his outstanding service—particularly his exceptional ability to lead through crisis with clarity, collaboration, and composure. At SJ Group International, Bill brings this wealth of experience to support clients navigating risk, crisis, and complexity—offering expert insight into high-pressure decision-making, cross-agency coordination, and the protection of reputation, assets, and public safety.
